Your Changes were saved but could not be uploaded because of an error. You may be able to upload.

Today one of my Clients reported that she was getting an error while saving the document back in sharepoint. She was seeing the message "Your Changes were saved but could not be uploaded because of an error. You may be able to upload this file using the server web page." on the top of the document. After investigation here are my findings about this error.

Cause - The error was due to documents getting upload by Upload Center. Microsoft Upload Center is and add-on that gets install with Office 2010 suite. This probably is saving document to its drafts and not letting it upload the changes. Although i noticed that changes were already made to the file.

Solutions -

I.  Fix Custom headers to browsers - Here is the solution by Jupiner Netwroks. Chekc out SharePoint 2007 users are unable to update a document when accessing with Office 2010 through rewrite access.

II. UnInstall Upload Center - Unfortunately, this would be the second option that i suggest. But wait it is still not that easy. Check out how to disable this utility from this article.
